In this talk, Mr. Cheung will provide an overview of drug abuse and the legal and social responses to the problem of drug addiction in Macau. He will also discuss the services provided by ARTM, the organization that is responsible for administering residential treatment in Macau. Topics covered in the talk will include addiction and substance use disorder in Macau, antidrug laws concerning addiction and illicit substances, commonly used substances in Macau, the social welfare system for people with addiction in Macau. Services introduced in the talk will include harm reduction programs, KaHO integrative service center, Hold on to Hope Project & Aftercare, and community-based prevention and promotion programs.

Mr. Lik Hang CHEUNG (Erick) is a Macao resident and has been working for the Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau as a psychological counselor since 2008 and is currently the Chief Psychological Counselor and Coordinator – Male Treatment Centre of the organization. Mr. Cheung is currently registered as International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (IC&RC, Identity number: 802683, Macau). He offers psychological counseling service and introduces Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy in the Therapeutic Community setting, and has been providing on-field supervision in psychological counseling for university students of the University of Macau and the Monash University.

Since Mr. Lik Hang CHEUNG is the representative of Association of Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers of Macau (ARTM)(or Associacao de Reabilitacao de Toxicodependentes de Macau), the ARTM will be proposed as awardee and recipient of the honorarium, which has been confirmed by Mr. Cheung.
